The Heartbreak Kid

Synopsis :-
Unmarried and just turned 40, sporting goods store owner Eddie Cantrow (Ben Stiller) is on the sidelines of the dating game when he attends the wedding of his former fiancée. Feeling like the whole world has paired off except him, and egged on by his libidinous octogenarian father Doc (Jerry Stiller) and henpecked married friend Mac (Rob Corddry), Eddie is primed for a romance. Now all he needs is the girl.

After he interrupts an apparent mugging on the streets of San Francisco, Eddie meets Lila (Malin Akerman) and the pair quickly embark on a whirlwind romance, which leads to a hasty proposal. On the way to Mexico for their honeymoon, Eddie discovers his new bride not only has the face of an angel, but a trucker's vocabulary and a nearly insatiable appetite for hilariously athletic sex. By the time they reach the swanky resort, Lila has transformed from a gentle and sweet life partner into a crass, tequila-swigging wench with a sordid past, leaving Eddie wondering what he's gotten himself into.

After Lila refuses to leave their hotel room because of the sunburn to end all sunburns, Eddie consoles himself at the bar where he strikes up a casual conversation with Miranda (Michelle Monaghan), a laid-back high school lacrossed teacher who is as wholesome and grounded as Lila is flighty. Soon, the miserable newlywed is manufacturing excuses to leave his bride behind and spend time with Miranda. As he falls for Miranda's down home allure, Eddie tries his best to level with both women. But a series of misunderstandings leads to a wildly funny confrontation among a man, two women and a Portuguese man o' war.

Since both of us are a fan of Ben Stiller, we would not wanna miss The Heartbreak Kid. Its a romantic comedy movie. It definately got bee n me tickled. Its an enjoyable movie and watching it makes u smiled away, altho to me its not 100% funny lar. However, i personally think our censorboard did not do a good job, they censor some of the obscene words unncessaryly, so most of the time you could not make up their script. If not becos of the many censors, it would be much more fun. We planned to get the DVD cos at least we would get the whole picture.

Selangor's Public Holiday

Happy Birthday to His Royal Highness, Sultan Sharaffudin Idris Shah, the Sultan of Selangor. Thank you for the holiday.

Its nice having Tuesday as a public holiday for the Selangorian people. Bee and me took the opportunity to go KL. This time with Anty L from Kuching and Uncle W n family from Kota Bharu plus Anty M.... the same clan....hehe.

Went to Pavillion KL. Reached there 10:30am, lucky thing there wasn't a bad traffic jam. We took the Federal Highway and surprisingly its a smooth ride n bee took them thru the SMART tunnel, just to show them the new RM2 billion tunnel which i've been to so many times... Just wana make them impressed with KL's latest technology lar...hehe.

Anty L wanted to go Parkson to buy her son some shirts and pants. Then we all went to Food Republic for lunch. The place was packed during lunch, lucky thing we managed to get a table for all 9 of us. Lunch was good. After Pavillion we all had to head home cos Anty L had an 8:50pm flight to catch. Uncle W n Z sent her to KLIA while the rest of us bid farewell from KJ.

The Golden Compass

Bee n i took leave cos needed to recuperate from lost of sleep from saturday and sunday. But rain or shine, we still woke up at 7am. Last nite bee n i decided to take our 3 cousins for a movie since both of us not doing anything n its school holiday n d kids going back to their hometown. Had light breakfast at Restoran Jamal in KJ and fetched 2 boys n 1 girl (2 teenagers n 1 10 yrs old). Went to OU and catch the 11am show.

The Golden Compass, featuring Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman & Dakota Blue Richards. Synopsis :
The story concerns Lyra Belaqua, an orphan living in a fantastical parallel universe in which the dogmatic dictatorship of the Magisterium threatens to dominate the world. When Lyra's friend is kidnapped, she travels to the far North in an attempt to rescue him and rejoin her uncle.
She begins a mighty journey to save the universe after learning that a valuable microscopic particle is under attack.

Hmmm...how should i review abt this movie?? I personally think its a draggy movie. Sooo boring. So far nothing beats Lord of the Ring trilogy. It has many fasinating elements but lack of flair, no punches, no 'ummph'. At the end of the movie, its 'hanging'. I think it definately gonna have a continuation. But it does make my 10 yrs old cousin S fasinated by the film's. I just enjoyed a scene where 2 polar bears fight against each other...the fight was cool!!

After movie, went for lunch. Since the other 2 kids from KB seldom get to eat fast food, they chose to have Pizza. Took them to Shakeys Pizza. After lunch, jalan-jalan and took the kids to One World hotel to have a look-around.

Later had Mcflurry, Chocolate Sundae and Cornetto Sundae at McDonalds before we all left home. But not before going for 1 animal-ride in OU...gosh...i donno wat got into me....i was in those rides....malu....tapi best gak....hehehe

Gathering at Elaeis Apt

Last minutely bee n i decided to call uncle W and family from Kota Bharu and Anty L n son S from Kuching to our house for tea. We also have to include in Anty M n Co from the KJ house plus cute-cousin F from KJ. Small gathering as the house could only accommodate a handful of people.

Its a tiring day but we have no choice cos anty L is going back to Kuching on Tuesday and Sunday is the only suitable time for us. Imagine the nite before is cousin bro's wedding. Slept late and woke up early to do preparation. Lucky thing i've baked Chocolate Cake and Marble cake a day before. Simple food, i just prepared Lontong (Jawa style - got the recipe from MIL) n boiled instant nasi impit. Bee bought Satay Kajang from TTDI and Anty M is kind enuf to bring mihun singapore.

After setting the tables n bee making drinks, we hit the shower just in time before the clan reached our place. The all reached Shahalam at 4pm. Just in time that i re-heat the kuah lontong and served it. All came including my bro n his wife except my parents who can't make it. Papa were in Malacca as he has a meeting on Monday. After tea, my cousin brother Z and S went for a swim.

Since they usually stay till nite time, i just served them Nasi Ayam for dinner, nothing elaborate as most of them are still full after the tea. Everything is preapared just after maghrib. Lucky thing my anty S's maid was there to help out. I cooked rice and prepared the chicken soup and fry the chicken plus cut out tomatoes, baby cucumber and butterhead (salad). After dinner watermelon and banana was served for dessert. At 10pm, kopi pak sarip and also some tid-bits for supper.

After dinner, uncle W showed us the video that he took at the wedding ceremony. Later we had a teka-teki session. I actually prepared some little/small gifts for some teka-teki session. Its something bee n i used to do when the clan comes down to KL. It was quite fun with the teasing and laughing. Everyone who get to answer, got a goodie-bag to bring back.

Everyone left a few minutes after midnite. But not before posing for the camera! A ritual at our place that just got started 2 years ago i think. A normal pose and a 'free-style' pose like always!

(STATUE-POSE)

(FREE-STYLE POSE)

Orange Wedding

Continuation from cousin brother wedding. D 'bersanding ceremony' for the men's side was held in Kelana Seafood. Theme for the nite : ORANGE. Good choice of colour, it turned out to be nice!

We all turned up full force. We all were given tasks to do and (from my opinion) I'm sure everyone played their part well. There's no exceptions. Everything turned out well too. At the end of the ceremony, the relatives had a fun time, taking turns taking pictures with the wedded couple. We all end up going home close to midnite.

Here are some photos of everyone with their gorgeous orange! More stories : check out 'Sweettooth' blog.

We all wacked all the food n none left...back to office....sleepy wor....

Relative Gatherings

Last Wednesday, my parents called my aunty from Kuching with her son and another family from Kota Bharu for dinner. Mama asked me to bring something for supper. I asked for an early exit from the office. Sempat bake some cup cakes and prepare tempe for 'tempe-goreng' with sambal kicap to bring to Kelana Jaya.

I reached Kelana Jaya before 8pm. Mama cooks simple dishes like her signature Chicken Curry, Sambal tumis udang, sup sayur, ikan bakar and rendang daging. It was a nice gathering cos the last time we had gathering during my bro's wedding.

After dinner, we watched some video-show from my uncle's video-cam which taken during my cousin brother's wedding. It was fun.

Everybody went back around 1:30am....imagine the next day is working day....but seronok!

Wedding in Salak Tinggi

At precisely 7:30am on Sunday morning of 2nd Dec 07, bee, mama, papa and me were already waiting for another 2 cars at the USJ toll. The 2 cars came around 7:45am and we all convoi to Bandar Baru Nilai. We're attending my cousin-brother 'R' wedding, mama's brother's last son getting married.

Theme of the day : RED & WHITE. All mama's adik-beradik were in their best red outfit and everyone came full force. My uncle (the groom's dad) was very pleased as everyone came on time, in fact all of us were extra early. My bro was the first to reached there, later it was me n family and Uncle Nash family. Followed by other relatives, all the happy people.

My aunty (the groom's mom) is a creative person and all the 'dulang hantaran' and the groom's room deco is from her creativity workmanship.

In the morning was the Akad nikah which was held at a nearby mosque. After the akad, everyone goes back to cousin 'R' house. Rest and wait before heading to the 'bersanding' ceremony at a nearby dewan. Both bride & groom looked resplendent.

Tis a very happy moment for everyone. No pressure, no tension, just happy people, happily gathering as well as feasting and catch up on latest gossip. Altho' we're tired becos of the hot weather and all but we all enjoyed ourselves!!
