Eating Weekends

Weekends are about bonding, eating and feasting. Doesn't matter where or what you eat, the most important thing for the day is having your meals and sharing good times with your loved ones.

Last saturday, went to Carrefour Subang cos huby bought for me a new Sony memory stick pro duo for my handphone. I had to transfer and download the old memory stick to a new memory stick. After that, we had our lunch. I was craving for KFC ever since the weekdays. Each of us had snack plate, original flavour, its finger linkin' good!!

Later we adjourned to One Utama (our fave place to be, hehe!!). Huby and me needed new shoes, so we have a mission that day. Must get a pair or two shoes. We covered the whole of OU from Parkson to Jusco and then back to Parkson again. Make a stop-over at Robert Harris cafe and tryout their coffee and chocolate ice-blended. Which looks like this. Hmm...we give 4/10 lar.

After the walking and gotten ourself what we wanted (huby got his black shoes and i got myself 2 pairs of shoes, hehehe), we headed to my parents house in evening.

Wanted to tryout Tiara Jacqueline's new eatery place, The Borneo Rainforest Cafe. Read about it in many newspapers so we thot we'll just take our parents. All of us ordered rice base food cos all of us are so hungry already. Huby orderd Chap Fan rice, Papa ordered Nasi Dagang, Mama ordered Nasi Kerabu and I ordered Nasi Lemak special. Papa praised his food, i tried huby's chap fan, memang tasty and my nasi lemak is very good too. All of us ordered hot drinks to go with dinner. They also served other extensive range of food like pasta, fusion noodles, satay and barbeque dishes.

After dinner, we jalan-jalan Sunway Pyramid which we go thru a bridge-walkway via Sunway Tower Hotel.

On Sunday, we took our parents to Pelita SS2 for breakfast. Then bring them to Ikano for jalan-jalan. We all had Pizza Hut for Lunch. My mom just love eating pizza. No choice but to take them there. By chance, huby n me already so 'muak' but still go ahead.

Since it was my brother's birthday, my parents treat us all for dinner at Johnny's Steamboat Restaurant at OU (papa's choice of place)

After dinner, papa treated us desserts at Baskin Robbins. Each couple shared 2 Banana Rumble 2 scopes ice-creams and a Waffle Berry 2 scopes ice-creams. Papa so generous tonite.

We all reached my parent's home nearly 11:00pm. Sat at the main-hall and chat till past midnite.

Durian & Manggis Feast

The company's sports club organised a 'Durian & Manggis' feast at the office this evening. The merchandise came from Tanjung Karang. A small lorry to carry it with 2 guys who helped open the durians.

Everybody rushed down at the car-park at exactly 4:30pm. All the department colleagues were already there.

There were 2 big baskets of all the good grades durians from D24, D101, all the 'D's, prawn, gold etc. The sports club paid nearly RM2K for the feast.

I had my first one and already so filling. Most of us ate about 3-4 pieces each cos 1 piece is as big as a tennis ball. After durian, everybody rushed to the next basket filled with cute little suweet manggis. That too after all the durians were already half-finished.

Here are some of the photos of us gobling down durians. Everybody enjoyed the feast and it was a great effort made by the company's Sports Club. I'm gonna send a good comment about it and email to the organiser.

Manage Change

Yesterday the company sent us for training. We had training in the office. After the transformation of the company, it is compulsory that everyone in the company to attend this training. Title : Change and The Individual Contribution. The speaker is Mr. Nick Randall and he's based in Australia. He's 60 years old and ride a BMW bike. Its a 1 day training and it was an interesting one.

We learned a lot about what we can do to maximise our performance in the face of change. We learnt about the 'S' curve and the signs and symptoms of people in Denial and Resistance to changes. We explore how stress affects performance in decision making and that it can effect the daily health. With proper coaching, we can contribute better in making the company progress well.

After the company's transformation, there are many many changes in the organisation. Early this year, the company offer VSS and some of my colleagues took the opportunity. I'm happy with the company so i didn't go for it, altho, after checking how much i could get from the VSS, it is quite attractive. But i think i'll grow with this company.

For your information, this is my 3rd transformation. The 1st and 2nd the company that i was working for merged with other pharmaceutical company. 3rd, the company was bought-over by a giant pharmaceutical co. So you see, i have been through so many changes, hence it is okey for me. Of course, the process has not been an easy one.

Okay, back to the training. We were given a task-project. To build an aeroplane from A4 paper that can carry 2 eggs at the same time. There were 5 teams. The plane will be judge by how far it can fly and without smashing the eggs. My group didn't win. But from the project, we learnt about teamwork and that people can build innovative and creative aeroplanes from just a mere A4 paper and a adhesive tape. Bravo!!

This is our F5 Tomcat Fighter-Jet :)

Overall, it was a fruitfull training and there's so much that we can learn and apply in our day-to-day job.

Ratatouille + Outing with Parents

Supposed to meet a couple friend last saturday but the wife gotta work till 7pm, sigh, no luck of meeting them. However, huby said we still go ahead with our plans. 10:30am, head to Holiday Villa Hotel for Dim Sum. They're having a RM3.00 per basket promotion. We tried so many place for a good halal dimsum over the years and we still find that Holiday Villa Chinese Restaurant, served the best dimsum. After breakfast, went straight to the Curve.

Went to Cineplex and bought 1:20pm movie tickets to watch 'Ratatouille'. Hmmm...funny pixar studio movie. Highly recommended, predictable but fun to watch. Its about this rat named 'Remy' whose got good sense of smell and wants to become a gourmet chef. Plus he can cook better then human. Go watch. We both enjoyed it and i clapped my hand after the movie (huby hates it if i do that!!)

After movie, went to Marche for late lunch. Since we're still not very hungry, we shared a bowl of mushroom soup + bread, a plate of main-dish half roasted chicken and banana-crepe with ice-cream for dessert, huby's treat as usual, hehehe. It was full house everywhere, all the eateries were packed with people. We were eating and saw drama actress Haliza Misbun with one 'Mat-Salleh' just beside our table. After lunch, jalan-jalan and beli-beli at Ikano and Curve. Never leave The Curve without visiting Big Apple. Bought half dozen of their delicious donuts before driving back home to my parents house for dinner. Papa bought mihun soto and satay which he bought from the Kelana Jaya pasar malam. For supper, mama called my cousin and aunty for supper. We chatted till 12:30 midnite.

Sunday, we treated Papa & Mama for breakfast at 'The Village Park Restaurant' in Uptown. Reached there around 9:15am and there were already so many people and luckily we managed to get a place to sit. Papa ate Mi Rebus Singapore, Mama ate Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng, Huby ate Lontong and I had the fishball mihun soup. Both my parents loved their food and huby got good words for his lontong but unfortunately my soup was quite a dissappointment, a bit tasteless and i didn't finish it. We tried the roti bakar kaya and their karipaf and cucur keria, they were delicious. Afterdat, went to Proton showroom to see the Proton Persona. Huby said its not much different from Gen2. Except for the cosmetic uplift. Later jalan-jalan and beli-beli at Mid Valley Mall till 4pm. Papa treated us lunch at Pizza Hut. We had to queue and all eateries were as usual, packed with so many people but it was fun to join the sunday crowd.

Sent parents back and we went back to Shah Alam. I had to do laundry and some ironing. So fast the weekend's over. Wish there's a long weekend. Guess i have to wait for next week!!

Manhattan Fish Shop + My Name is Earl

We haven't really celebrated huby's won. Wanted to but time just don't permits hence no time to go and look for good or tryout new places. Yesterday so happened we're quite free and so huby asked me where i would like to dine furthermore i wuz fasting. Its been many many moon that we last went to Manhattan Fish Shop. We head off to Subang Parade and that's just where i break my fast. Before our food arrived, i told huby that i wanted to have Baskin Robin's Banana Split for dessert.

We shared a bowl of Seafood Chowder (this is much better then Eden's - not too sour) and we shared the main dish which is the Manhattan Seafood Platter for two. Huby especially loved the fried squid cos its soft, not too springy and of course i ate the whole 3 pieces of oyster cos huby don't fancy them...hehehe. It was a wholesome dinner and i finished most of em....hungry mah. But after dinner, my stomach was so tight there isn't any room for dessert. (Bila lapar, macam-macam nak makan!)

We quicky headed home cos we dont' wanna miss our favourite sitcom, My Name is Earl at Star World channel 70 Astro at 8:30pm every Thursday. Have you guys watch em? Its the most popular tv-series at the moment and a hit show in US.

Its about Earl who has taken too many wrong turns on his life. However, a twist of fate turns his life to a life-renewing events. Earl wins a small lottery and he is determined to transform his good fortune into a life-changing event as he sets out to right all the wrongs from his past. Earl discovers 'karma' and in hope of a better life, he sets out to correct every bad things he's ever done. He makes a list of all the bad things he's done and try to cross the items off that list one-by-one by doing good deeds to atone for them.

Its a dim-witted sitcom and he's joined with his brother Randy, Catalina (a motel's housekeeper), Joy (ex-wife), Darnell aka Crab Man(Joy's husband). Every episode have interesting story-line and its always so funny. Now they're into 2nd season. We haven't had the chance to watch it yet in either NTV7 or 8TV cos it starts at midnite. But if you have the chance, do watch it from season 1 to understand the character better.

Rush Hour 3

Saw the movie last nite with huby. A must see!! Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are really really funny and the movie is really really good. I think Part 3 is their best installation, so far. We don't mind watching it again...if time permits-lar..
I tell you wat...if you're feeling unhappy and need a damn good laugh, go watch Rush Hour 3!

You'll start laughing even from the start of the movie. I'm not a fan of Chris Tucker cos i think he talks a lot but in this movie, he just didn't over-do anything. Every funny lines he delivered is just so spontaneous and 'laughfable'. Jackie Chan is still good with his moves (his body moves are just so original, nobody can do dat!!) and he is as funny as Chris too.

Its a feel-good movie, nothing tense, just funny. I recommend you movie-lovers to go out with your loved ones and watch this movie!! Its worth the money. No wonder this movie is No. 1 in USA, beating the box-office collection and overtook Ultimate Bourne. Its definately not to be missed! Simply hillarious.

Note : before the movie starts, usually they'll show a glimpse of 'coming-soon' movies coming to town. We saw 'Rogue Assassin', starring Jet Li and Jason Statnam...looks promising, hope another good action movie to look-out for.

Moving Thots

Last sunday, my sick auntie has passed away peacefully. We all are going to miss her especially her daughter. I don't have much to say because i'm still deeply sadden by it. I know (other too) that my auntie has gone to be with the angels and that she's meeting her father, mother, sister and brother in heaven. I would like to share a 'Moving Thots' for those who are in dire or devastated or in sadness. Life has to go on. Make the best out of it!

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Happiness lives for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Aunties

Everybody have aunties. I'm very close to most of my aunties from my mom's side. Even after married, i'm still close to them. Altho' we have our differences of opinion, we fought, we argued, we tell each other-off but at the end of the day, they're still my aunties and i'm still their niece.

I would like to talk about my eldest auntie. Yesterday, huby and i visited the UMMC (University Malaya Medical Centre). She was admitted a day before because of kidney failure. I couldn't go cos i was told late at nite. I was so surprised to see her condition. I could not contain my feelings, i cried right after looking at her!! I've never cried visiting my late grandmother or late 2nd eldest auntie. But i got so emotional looking at my eldest auntie. She looked so fragile....so weak. It is a pityful sight.

The last time i saw her was about a month ago, she was still sick but not as sick as yesterday. She is the most nicest auntie among other aunties. Altho, I'm not that close to her but she has been a very nice lady. I would like to describe her as an 'Isteri Mithali' because i know she never talk-back to her husband. She's loyal and she's never-ever raised her voice to her husband or even anyone i known (except maybe in school....oya, she was a primary school teacher). During my younger days, i remembered that she sometimes cracked jokes and it was always spontanaous that i laughed out loud. There are many good qualites in her, i just don't understand why her husband ill-treated her...

According to my cousin (my auntie's only daughter), she's in her 3rd stage of Parkinson. Everday she have to take at least 20 to 30 tablets of medicine, for her gastric, for her diabetic, her parkinson and what not. And lately her appetite to eat has gone thin so she hardly eat and drink. She was so dehydrated, doctor have to give her extra drip cos her body need liquid. My cousin said she's improving but still critical.

After office today, we fetched my mom and went and visit my auntie again. She didn't response too well today but i'm much stronger today, i try not to get emotional (altho deep inside my heart - felt so sebak). We all empathy seeing her in that weak condition, i know my cousin is strong to take care of her. Nothing much can be done except huby and I hoped and prayed that she will be better soon and not suffer.

Trip to Dentist

Yeah, i normally don't like going to dentist. To me, its like you're sitting on a 'death chair'...waiting for them to pull the electric-plug and you'll get the shock. I don't mind going for scalling or if they have to fill my teeth but to extract it?? ...omygosh!!

Last friday, i chipped my uppper-left-end-molar, the doctor said 'wisdom teeth'. Last 2 years, the doctor told me that i have to extract it out but i never bother to. After chipping it off, i think it got to my nerves cos i'm feeling pain and my head start to throb. I informed huby about it. He said if its major, then we have to see the doctor. But i told him, i think i can bear with it.....hell, no!!

Since the dentist close at 6pm, after fetching me from the office, huby drove me to the dentist in USJ. My hands and feet were already so cold when i reached the clinic. I have to wait for the doctor to attend to one patient. But hearing the drilling sound from the doctor's room already gives me butterly in my tummy. Well.....i still have to face it right.

Then, the attendant calls my name....here it comes....the 'death-chair'. Lucky thing, the doctor is 'an angel'. She's really really soft and really really patient and really really gently. What more can you ask for? She checked my teeth and asked me, there are 2 options, either to extract it or to do crowing. If if opt for crowing, then i have to see her 3 times for the process. 3 TIMES!!! hahaha...no way!! Well, you guess it right, i told her to extractt it. She asked me 3 times, whether i'm sure or not....hell yes!!

Since the teeth is not so good already, she's got diffulty in pulling it off. I was already feeling nauseatic. It took her a few hard minutes to take out the stubborn molar....i think the root is deep. But it was a relief when she said, okey its already out...fuuiiih!!

But the post-extract gave me a hard time. Few years back I've extracted a molar before but it only took 1 day to be okey. But this particular 'wisdom teeth' gave me an upset weekend. I havent been able to enjoy my food, i have to eat porridge and i've to spit once in a while cos it still bleeds. At the same time i have to take antibiotic that the doctor presribed and i'm allergic to strong antibiotic. Since taking the antibiotic, i got pumpertation and my whole body got weak.

Since i wasn't feeling well on Sunday, most of the time i was at home, lying on the bed and became a potato couch. Poor hubby, he cannot go anywhere cos i wasn't in a mood to do anything. Since i already ate porridge for lunch, he fried a few pieces of the yummy 'Ayamas Lemongrass Fried Chicken' for me....oww...he's such a darling. We just had that for dinner while watching HBO comedy 'The Benchwarmers'. Hope my gum will get well soon.

Turn of event!

I was so ready to go to work today. But as i woke up, i got a bad stomach-cramp (time of the month again!). It was quite unbearable, so yours truly decided that its not a good day to go to work. I text my boss and my colleague and told them that i'm unable to come to work. Huby decided to take me to the doctor and he'll be taking off today too...hehehe...

Went to see doctor around 10.30am cos the pain is still there and i don't like taking pain-killer. And at the same time i had a terrible back-ache. After the trip to the doctor, mentally and physically, i was quite okey. Our stomach got hungry and so huby took me to a new eatery in Uptown. We have been wanting to go to this place for quite sometime but the place is always pack and parking is a hassle. But this morning we were lucky. The name of this place is 'Village Park Restaurant'. They served very good nasi lemak with lots of condiments and side orders. The sambal is spicy. I had my nasi lemak with ayam goreng berempah panas...pehhh...memang sedap to go with my kopitiam teh-o. Huby had nasi lemak with sambal sotong with kopi-kow!! They have other menu; asam laksa, keowteow fishball soup, mee rebus, prawn mee and of course their roti-bakar with kaya and hard-boil eggs, which looks very tempting. So many crowd and so many people come and go. Best jugak tryout new place.....suddenly after breakfast and taking my medicine, i feel much better.

Huby had this crazy idea! He asked, wanna go to KLCC since we seldom go there during weekend cos of the crowd. He decided that we parked at Taman Bahagia and take the LRT to KLCC. Dah lama pun tak naik LRT, syok pulak, rasa macam jakun! It was a 35minutes ride and before noon we were already there. We went to Isetan and Parkson and bought a few things. Sempat lagi beli kasut sports for myself. Since we were still very full, we went for late lunch at the food-court. Ordered wantan-mee with prawn dumpling soup which we shared. Not bad, the soup is tasty and the prawn-dumpling is solid. By 3:30pm, we head back to Kelana Jaya to avoid the rush-hour.

Once we reached home, i decided to bake some cup-cakes. I've been wanting to eat cup-cake for quite sometime and could not order cos the person who sell em, stop taking orders till September. I'm gonna bring some to the office tomoro for the girls and some for my parents.

And since we ate outside, i cooked dinner. Just simple dinner, fish and chips with coleslaw (bought at Cold Storage) and beef ball. Suppose to eat with brown sauce but huby said no need since i'm already so tired, heh...heh..thanks bee!

Its a nice un-planned outing for me today. Sometimes, deciding an outing on the spot is much better rather than a planned one. What a turn of event!!

Starlight Cinema

I got 2 tickets free to watch Starlight Cinema from the 'Mystar' membership. It was a Friday nite affair. I bot my fren there (hubby not keen on outdoor concept). We met at McDonalds just beside Centrepoint. The show is at KBU International College. We brought our mats and mosquito repellent, just in case and bought some light food. The show title is 'Because i said so'. Hmm...not a bad movie lar.

Parking space was ample. When we gave our tickets, the sponsor gave few Hello and Juice magazines of few month's issue as a 'door gift'. We found our spot, right in the middle of the field. BTW, KBU has a very big field and windy too. We lay our mat and our food-stuff/drinks. And waited for the movie to start. Quite a crowd. I forgot to bring my camera so too bad, could not capture the moment.

But overall, its a fun experience. For me, i think it will be my last lar. Its because i have backache-problem, so i have problem with sitting on my butt for too long. But i guess youngster would love the concept. I don't encourage old people to go...pity them. It caters more to younger generation. As long as the weather is good and no rain, it should be a nice experience.
