Raya Cookies - Chocolate Almond

I would like to share one of my raya cookie's recipes with you all. Its easy to do and its saves u a lot from buying. I make two times of its original recipe and you get about 130 pieces of bite-size chocolate almond.

Chocolate Almond Cookies

3oz butter
3oz icing sugar
3oz soft light brown sugar
1egg (beaten)
6oz self-raising flour (sifted)
1pinch of salt
1teaspoon vanilla essence
2-4 oz chocolate chip
3oz chopped nuts (u can use walnut, hazel or almond)
3table-spoon of cocoa powder

Cream butter, vanilla essence & sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg. Put in sifted flour. Add chopped nuts and stir to mix them thoroughly. Drop spoonsfuls on the baking tray. Bake for 20-30mins.

Wrist-Rest

Of late, two of our colleages suffers from wrist-pain. They complaint that they've suffered from too much of using the 'mouse'. So far i've not experience it but our boss has told us to get one wrist-rest each for our department.

One of us took the effort to do a survey at mall & digital mall in PJ to look for it. You don' t have to go to KL to get it okey.

After approval from our boss, we bought wrist-rest for our department. A cute doggy from LQ at OU. Tis is quite cool, it comes only in 3 colours, dark brown, light brown & grey. It has a bag for you to keep d dog.

And we named our dogs....(J named her dog Bob, L named hers Benji, S named it Bala, MO named it Bingo and mine is Booboo...hhehehe)

We also bought a keyboard rest from d digital mall. Its a normal gel-pad and its comfy.

After using em....we can feel d diffrence....its nice having em around...hehehe..

My syawal celebration

Our 1st Syawal celebration tis year is in Seremban...at my in-laws. But on raya eve, we 'beraya' with my parents first.

Its was hectic but nevertheless the best ones i've had so far. On d 1st day, lots of guests came to the house n we're busy with preparation after preparation....but we get to meet relatives, neighbours and frens from all walk of life....be it chinese as well as indians. The kitchen were only closed rite after midnite. It was fun cos everybody helped and time ends so fast.

2nd Syawal were at my MIL's kampung which is in Selandar, Malacca. I luved goin back there cos i like the kampung environment plus its been 3 years since i last visited the ol'folks.

We left for KL on the 3rd Syawal after having lunch at huby's cuzzy's hse which is also MIL's neighbour. As usual rice, rendang, nasi himpit & the norms were served.

5th of Syawal were at huby's side. We visited his uncle (MIL's brother) who is not well. After having lunch at their place at Mont Kiara, we left for Damansara to huby's cuzin's house. We had light food there. Last stop is at my BIL's house in Alam Damai. By the time we finished visiting, it was already late evening....n i'm oredi tired.

6th Syawal, we visited uncles & aunties at my late grandma's house. 7th Syawal, an aunt from USJ invited us for lunch. Those who didn't attend her house on the first nite of syawal were there. That same nite, inpromptuly, i arranged to make some 'makan' supper at my house. But i only called my parents, bro/SIL and d family from KB. I juz cooked simple dishes, mee hailam & meatloaf. I did steal a bit of time earlier that day to bake choc cupcake to bring to my auntie's house & for that nite. Huby just bought some satay to add to the table.

Starting from 9th syawal onwards, it's back to R.O.U.T.I.N.E...which is soooo boring....cos its back to work.

Thai Thai Restaurant

Last nite we had department makan-makan for break-fast at Thai Thai. Its my first time and at d same time i took the chance to organise a birthday do for a colleague.

The food was quite good but service was bad....probably becos the place was packed kot...but still it shouldn't give them a reason. I liked the ambiance...very cozy, spacious and elegant.

We gave ahboss the previledge to choose the dishes. I only choose 2 starters. The portions were not that big and the price is quite reasonable. Ahboss introduced us to a 'mango salad' with catfish....(errmm...i dun eat catfish!!).....but ahboss promised that after tasting tis dish, i would not be looking at catfish dat way oredi....n he's rite....d dish were good!! Erm...but i still won't eat a catfish..hehehe....sorry, i'm one of d 'rawa' who doesn't eat a catfish...ewww....

Since i don't have enough time to order a birthday cake, i asked for the restaurant's manager's help and he's kind enought to accommodate to my needs. They bought the cake and charged us later.

After dinner and dessert, we get one of the waiter to serve the cake to the birthday girl. We finised at 9pm which for us is rather late. On usual dinner day, we usually finished around 8.30pm....maybe cos we start d diner late kot.

The cake is from Bread Talk and thank goodness, most of them loved the cake as its light and not too sweet.

My 13 hours making cookies

Yes....i couldn't believe it myself. I started making cookies yesterday from 7:00am till 8:00pm. Fuhh.....i've never done it before but yes, i did it!!

Of course my bro's sister helped a bit but she surrendered at 5pm!! And i continued....

We started by making a first batch of Oat Cookies. My SIL asked me why i didn't wanna use a mixer...i told her i'm still 'ol school at it....i much prefer manual labour in making cookies, it gives me a certain satisfaction. We made all our cookies at my mom's place. I lurved her new oven cos it has a timer and it makes baking much easier, i dun haftu looked at the clock, i juz wait for the timer to 'ring' and all i need todo it take-out the tray and put in anther set of tray. But i guess her electric bill will increase so much cos we used her over non-stop for 13hours straight!!

The second batch was another set of Oat Cookies before we moved on to Chocolate & Almond Cookies, which we also made in two batches. Lastly i made the Butter Cookies. After making it halfway, i realised that i don't have a pressed-cookie mould, so i went out for awhile with huby's help to drive me to the nearest hypermarket at my mom's place and bought one. The butter cookies was excellent in taste but not the outlook. It was too soft hence after the moulding, the cookies went rather flat....hehehe...

At nite, i couldn't lift my right arm...cos it was soo painful plus cramps....so hubby helped massage it....and alhamdulilah, it turned out to be better today....thanks bee.

....i couldn't believed it myself, that i started off from 7am!! Altho i wasn't fasting but i didn't eat anyting, juz drank. My parents were happy with the chocolate and butter cookies. In future i'll stick to it. Oya, i wuz so bz, i didn't get d chance to take pics. But if u wanna taste d cookies, come over to my mom's place for Raya... :)

My buka puasa so far...

I juz gotta post sumting tday cos i loike d date tday...09/09/09.

I'm juz gonna post previous posting which i haven't got d time to put up cos i havent been in good health lately...bee's also not well. We hoped by raya, we'll get well soon.

I've only been to 3 houses for breaking fast. First week at MIL's. Later we had it at my parent's place and also to an aunt's place where i met my another anty and 2 cousins. Becos our health hasn't been so good, i tried to cook as much as i can....no outside food.

As usual at my aunt's place, she cooked plenty of food that day, so much to eat!! Here's a pic of us goofing around in my aunt's bedroom.

I've also invited my parents, bro & his wife 2 my place for 'bukapuasa'.... altho i'm still not that well, i still insist on inviting them cos every year i made sure they bukapuasa at my place. Tapi dalam tak sehat tu, i sampat make Spicy Oyster-Sauce Seabass, Sauteed Taugeh (huby felt like eating tis dish), Seafood Tomyam Soup (papa muz have soupy dish), HongKong Eggs (a recipe i got from my Kuching aunt) and Rose Chicken. My parent only bought Siput Masak Lemak and my bro bought lotsa savories and sweet foodies for our dessert.

Today, we juz bought some food and eat at home....we had these packed-food for our bukapuasa. We hardly go out nowadays...with us both not well, plus the H1N1 thingy...we try to lessen out activities outside. We hoped and prayed that we'll get well soon.
